Dorit
Klebe studied musicology, ethnomusicology and turcology. She conducted
fieldwork in Turkey, Greece, Italy and in the wider Balkan area.
Her specialisation is Ottoman-Turkish court music and dance in historical
sources (iconography, performing practice, modal concept makam,
rhythmic principle usûl). She currently works on a book focussing
the vocal genre sharki in compositions of the 18th and 19th centuries
and its realisations in the 20th/21st centuries. She works as an
assistant professor at the faculty of music, University of the Arts
Berlin.
